Helping you meet life's challenges

Child and Adolescent Counselling

Being a child or a teenager today isn’t easy.  It is extremely common for parents or carers to need help with children and teens at some stage of their development. At Thinking Families we have counsellors who are very skilled in engaging and working effectively with adolescents and younger children about the many issues they may have to face. We regard parents as a valuable resource in any counselling or therapy process with their children and are usually important members of the “treatment team”.

Some of the issues we frequently work with are:

  • School behaviour problems
  • Sleep problems
  • Anxiety, Worry, Panic
  • Low self-esteem
  • Social skills / Friendship issues
  • Bullying
  • Depression
  • Self-harm
  • Grief and Loss
  • School Refusal
  • Adjustment to separation and divorce

At times, teens find it difficult to express the way they feel, and this is where a therapist who understands children and adolescents and is trained to work with them can be an advantage.

At Thinking Families, each of our staff have more than twenty years experience in working with children, adolescents and their families. We see every child and adolescent as a unique individual, and we tailor every counselling session to suit their specific needs.  Contact us today to discuss any concerns you may have about  your child or adolescent and to see if counselling may be helpful.
